A $1 million Mega Millions ticket was sold in the Lawrence County town of Louisa, according to lottery officials.
The winning numbers of Tuesday night’s drawing were 5-12-15-46-49 and the Mega Ball 1. The ticket matched the five white ball numbers and not the Mega Ball to win the game’s second prize.
The Lawrence County man who won wished to remain anonymous, lottery officials said. He scanned his ticket Wednesday morning at the Louisa BP Station where he bought his ticket, and was informed that he’d won too much for the store to pay.
“We checked the winning numbers against my ticket and I was like, OK,” the man told lottery officials. “At first I figured it was probably $1,000 but after researching further, I found out it was much more.”
He will receive $700,000 after taxes and said he will use the money toward his retirement.
The BP Station will receive a selling bonus of $10,000.
