Harlan District Judge Jeffrey James Brock, 55, died Friday after a long battle with cancer.
Brock was first elected district court judge for the 26th Judicial District in Harlan County in 2006.
A graduate of Harlan High School, Brock attended the University of Kentucky, where he played football. He later attended law school at Northern Kentucky University.
In addition to practicing law and serving on the bench, Brock was active in various community organizations, including the Harlan Rotary Club, Howard Mason Lodge No. 819, the Harlan County Shrine Club, the Harlan County 4-H Council and the Harlan County Extension Council. He was a past president of the Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival and was a deacon at Harlan Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle Brown Brock, his two children and a brother.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Harlan Christian Church in Harlan. Visitation will precede the service Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Henson & Rich Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Contributions can be made to the Judge Jeffrey J.
