A school employee who was hit by a truck Wednesday in Pulaski County has died, Kentucky State Police said.
Doyle W. Patterson, 69, of Somerset died about midnight at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, state police said in a news release.
Patterson was acting as a school crossing guard when he was hit by a truck at Southwestern High School.
The 2007 Chevrolet pickup was driven by Windell R. Phelps, 62, of Somerset. Patterson was standing on an access road and was preparing to direct traffic when school was dismissed, state police said.

No drug or alcohol use was suspected, and police don’t expect any charges to be filed. Trooper Lloyd Cochran said Phelps also is a school employee.
The accident was reported shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday.
