The sheriff in Clinton County is getting some unwanted attention after a story by WKYT reported that he took his 10-year-old son along while making an arrest and let him sign official jail documents.
Sheriff Jim Guffey took his son when he and his deputies arrested Ladonna Kempton on drug charges in March, WKYT reported.
An excerpt from the story by Miranda Combs:
“Kempton, who was interviewed earlier this month in the Russell County Detention Center, is awaiting trial for her charges out of Clinton County. She is facing at least five years for charges of marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine.
Never miss a local story.
As she reflected on that day, she said she felt humiliated by the experience.
‘Oh, he was dressed just like a deputy; had a Taser. Had a badge,’ she said.”
