One person was in critical condition and five people were in jail Sunday after an armed robbery and assault at Mike’s Game Room in Perry County, Kentucky State Police said.
Events unfolded late Saturday, when three men and two women went to the closed business on Ky. 15 in Scuddy, state police said in a news release. Two of them knocked on the door of Mike’s Game Room, which security guard Otis Combs opened. One of the men, later identified as Cody Miller, struck Combs in the head, state police said, and Miller, Jeremy Coots, Valeria Noble and Steven Morris entered the building. Inside, police said, they continued to assault Combs and his wife, Vicki Combs, and held Shannon Engle and Betty Sue Ritchie at gunpoint while taking their money and personal belongings.
The foursome left the scene in a car driven by Derika Morris, state police said. Troopers found the car and arrested Steven Morris and Derika Morris; they later arrested Coots, Miller and Noble. All were charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree assault. They were being held Sunday in the Kentucky River Regional Jail in Hazard.
Otis Combs was airlifted to Pikeville Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, state police said.
