Kentucky State Police are investigating after a house fire in Powell County on Monday.
The home at 497 Irvine Road in Clay City is thought to have been intentionally set on fire to conceal the theft of cash and a weapon, state police said.
Investigators said they do not believe this fire is related to the string of burglary and arson cases from April 29 to May 9 in Central Kentucky, Trooper Joe Veeneman said.
Anyone with information on the fire may contact the Kentucky State Police Morehead Post at 606-784-4127 or the Kentucky Arson Hotline at 1-800-272-7766. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the fire and theft, state police said.
