A McCreary County woman was struck and killed by a truck Monday afternoon in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant in Corbin.
Norma Hicks, 66, of Parkers Lake, south of Somerset, was walking out of the McDonald's off Master Street when a Ford F10 pickup "pulled into the parking lot of McDonald's at a high rate of speed" and hit her, according to a news release from Kentucky State Police.
Hicks died at the scene.
Charges had not been filed against the driver of the truck, 19-year-old Aaron Potter of Corbin, and police don't expect that there will be any charges, Trooper Shane Jacobs said. Potter was not injured.
Never miss a local story.
Police are looking into a number of factors, including the possibility that Potter's gas pedal was stuck, Jacobs said.
Police don't think drugs or alcohol were a factor, Jacobs said.
