Women Leading Kentucky is accepting nominations for the Martha Layne Collins Leadership Award through Jan. 31.
The award was created in 1999 to honor Kentucky's first and only female governor and is given to a Kentucky woman “who inspires and motivates other women through their personal, community and professional lives,” said Janet Steele Holloway, executive director of Women Leading Kentucky.
Never miss a local story.
Three finalists are selected each year and will be recognized at the Women's Business and Leadership Conference May 5. Criteria for selection are: leadership ability, service as a role model, volunteerism, evidence of continuous learning, commitment to Kentucky's economic growth, perseverance in hardship and sensitivity to diversity.
Last year's winner was Nawanna Privett of Lexington, who works for the Kentucky Department of Education.
