A Knox County woman's current boyfriend shot her ex-boyfriend during a domestic dispute Monday, state police said.
State police said that Kirby Taylor, 29, of Walker went to the home of his ex-girlfriend, Ashley Hendrickson, even though she has an emergency protective order in force against him.
After the two got into a dispute, Hendrickson's current boyfriend, 25-year-old Carl S. Parks II, approached Taylor with a shotgun and told him to leave the house.
The argument continued outside, however, and Parks shot Taylor once in the leg, state police said.
Taylor drove himself to Knox General Hospital for treatment. The hospital called police, according to a news release by Trooper Walt Meachum, spokesman for state police Post 10.
State police charged Parks with first-degree assault. Other charges are pending in the investigation by Trooper Shame Jacobs, state police said.
