FRANKFORT — A former state mine safety analyst has admitted she falsified mine reports and failed to perform other job duties.
Betty Sue Whitaker, 50, of Perry County, was reprimanded Friday by the Executive Branch Ethics Commission and fined $1,500.
Whitaker had worked as a safety analyst in the Hazard district of the state office of Mine Safety and Licensing since July 1999.
The commission's investigation began after The Courier-Journal reported that the state Office of Mine Safety and Licensing found that Whitaker had falsified more than two dozen inspection reports by pretending to evaluate workers at mines she had visited briefly or not at all.

She resigned from her state job March 2.
Whitaker could not be reached for comment.
