A Jackson County man shot and seriously wounded his son early Monday after a night of heavy drinking, state police said.
Ronnie M. Sparks, 68, of McKee, called state police at 7:46 a.m. Monday and said he had just shot his son, according to a news release.
When Trooper Jesse Armstrong got to Sparks' house, he found Ronnie D. Sparks, 46, of Richmond, with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, state police said in a release.
The younger Sparks was flown to the University of Kentucky Hospital for surgery. There was no report available Monday afternoon on his condition.
Police said the two men had argued after a night of drinking and that Ronnie D. Sparks allegedly turned over a kitchen table on his father, who then shot at him twice with a pistol.
The elder Sparks has not been charged. Investigators will present evidence to grand jurors to decide whether to issue charges, state police said.
