The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded around $1.32 million to 15 Kentucky fire departments, according to a news release.
The grants are designed to enhance response capabilities and more effectively protect the health and safety of the public. The grants enable local fire departments and emergency medical services organizations to purchase or receive training, conduct first responder health and safety programs, and buy equipment and response vehicles.
Among the fire departments receiving funding were Mt. Eden Fire Protection District, Westwood Fire Department in Ashland, Spencer County Fire Protection District in Taylorsville, Titlon Volunteer Fire Department in Flemingsburg, Preston Volunteer Fire Department in Owingsville, and Kirksville Volunteer Fire Department near Richmond.
