A Pulaski County man was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head Tuesday after he'd gone out to shoot at a stray dog, according to a news release from the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office.
It's not yet clear how Steven W. Quaid, 62, was shot. The results of an autopsy should give investigators a clearer picture of what happened, according to the news release.
The preliminary investigation suggests Quaid had gone to shoot at a dog that was chasing his livestock. When he didn't return, his wife went to check on him, and he was found shot, according to the news release.
It appeared Quaid had been shot with his own rifle.
The shooting happened north of Somerset, near Science Hill, about 1:55 p.m.
