During Wednesday night's episode of American Idol, Kentucky viewers got a glimpse of actress Jennifer Garner's visit to Jackson for the program's "Idol Gives Back" charity event.
Garner, who grew up in Charleston, W.Va., visited Save the Children's Early Steps to School Success program at LBJ Elementary School in Jackson in late March. The school program, which benefits from the Idol event, helps young children prepare for school by developing strong literacy skills.
Since "Idol Gives Back" began in 2007, it has raised more than $140 million. This year it will benefit Children's Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children's U.S. programs and the United Nations Foundation.
