An Estill County man died Friday morning after a collision with some wood carried by a skid loader in Ravenna, Kentucky State Police said.
Daniel Rose, 25, of Ravenna was pronounced dead at Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital in Irvine, said Trooper Chris Lanham, spokesman for the Richmond post of state police.
Lanham said Rose was driving a Ford pickup truck and cresting a hill when he came upon a skid loader carrying lumber from an Isaacs Lumber storage lot across Cow Creek Road to the main yard.
A board on the loader went through the windshield of the truck, hitting Rose in the face. The truck went off the road and struck a storage building belonging to the lumber company.
Ernest Issacs, the operator of the Kawasaki skid loader, was not injured in the crash. He told police that he had looked both ways before attempting to cross the road. No charges will be brought against Isaacs, Lanham said.
The crash was reported at 8:46 a.m. Friday.
