Harrodsburg — A long-time employee of Old Fort Harrod State Park died Monday after a fire gutted her home.
Mary Rose Harley, 71, died in the fire, said her nephew, Brent Steele.
"I talked to her last night and she was fine," Steele said.
But around 4:30 a.m. Monday, neighbors informed Steele that Harley had died in a fire at her West Lane house.
Harley worked as a guide who gave tours at Old Fort Harrod State Park in Harrodsburg.
"She loved her work, loved history and loved to talk to people," Steele said.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known, but a Kentucky State Police investigator was on the scene Monday as well as members of the Harrodsburg Fire Department.
