A Scott County grand jury indicted an Owenton woman in the stabbing death of her boyfriend at their Georgetown home, police said.
The indictment charges Melinda "Mindy" Barker-Turner, 36, with murder in the death of Maxwell Oliver Pomeroy, 26. She also is charged with being a persistent felony offender, Swanigan said. Police served an arrest warrant to Turner, who was being held at the Scott County jail on other charges, about 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Turner called police about 1:25 p.m. Aug. 9 and reported a stabbing at 515 East Washington Street, where she lived with Pomeroy, police said.
Georgetown police Lt. Robert Swanigan said Turner told police two men broke into the home and stabbed Pomeroy, who died at the scene.
"Our thoughts and prayers are still with the family and friends of Mr. Pomeroy, and we hope that today's charges will help bring some closure to the family," Swanigan said.
Turner was being held at the Scott County jail Thursday on a $143,000 full cash bond.
