Emergency workers on Friday recovered the body of a woman who ran off Doe Creek Road and into the Kentucky River in Estill County.
State police identified her as Della B. Conrad, 52, of Irvine. An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday morning at the state medical examiner's office in Frankfort.
Trooper Chris Lanham said the woman's body was found at 1:30 p.m. Thursday about 60 yards downstream from where the wreck occurred.
Rescue workers began searching Wednesday after people who live near the scene heard a crash.
Never miss a local story.
No one saw the vehicle go into the river, but investigators found a wheel cover and fresh tire tracks going off the road and over an embankment.
A diver found a Dodge Caravan in the water Wednesday night.
The diver went into the water about 9 p.m., Lanham said. All of the van's windows were broken or down. Mitchell said the van, which investigators pulled out of the water about 11 p.m. Wednesday, apparently sideswiped a tree.
Rescue efforts were called off about midnight because of the weather. Crews had initially suspended Thursday's search for the same reason, but they resumed after someone saw the body in the water.
Police said they believe Conrad was the only one in the car.
