About 15 people were evacuated from the Middlefork campground at Natural Bridge State Park on Tuesday night because of flash flooding.
Park Manager Tim Hibbard said park employees began warning campers at about 7 p.m. that they might need to leave the area because the creek that branches off the Red River was overflowing its banks.
"We've had quite a bit of rain," Hibbard said. "It seems like it just stood over the park."
At 10:30 p.m., he said the waters seemed to be receding as fast as they rose.
Never miss a local story.
Hibbard said state highway officials had shut down both lanes of Ky. 11 near the park's entrance because of a mudslide. The road remained closed Wednesday morning.
