A man who had spent his life in the logging business in Pulaski County died Friday when a tree fell on him.
Roger Burdine, 48, was working with his brother on Cotton Gin Cemetery Road in the Acorn community of eastern Pulaski County when the top of the 70-foot tree fell on him, said Coroner Richard New.
New said Burdine, who was wearing a helmet, had been standing on a hillside and did not see the tree coming his way. He also was wearing protective headphones, which prevented him from hearing a warning yell, New said.
New said Burdine died instantly of head trauma.
New said Burdine and his brother, Roy, owned and operated Burdine Logging.
Arrangements are pending at Lange and New Brothers Funeral Home.
