One person was killed and at least three other people were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 75 in Rockcastle County on Sunday. According to Kentucky State Police officer Steve Douglas, the crash, just before 4 p.m. near mile marker 61, involved at least three commercial tractor-trailers and four passenger vehicles. Both northbound lanes were blocked for several hours.
Police said the driver of one of the passenger vehicles, Keith Holbrook, 55, of Beaver Creek, Ohio, was killed; his passenger, Teresa Holbrook, was flown to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital in serious condition. Mitch and Roberta Butler of Hamilton, Ohio, also were flown to UK. He was released; she suffered a broken arm.
Officers were trying to piece together what happened, but rain and slick roads were thought to be factors, Douglas said.
