A Wayne County woman was killed in a traffic crash Thursday morning in Monticello, state police said.
Jerus Helen Neal, 54, of Monticello pulled onto Main Street into the path of a 2008 Toyota Camry driven by Roderick Tejeda, 41, about 9:30 a.m., according to a news release.
Tejeda's car struck Neal's 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier on the driver's side. She was taken by ambulance to the Wayne County Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, state police said.
Tejeda, the assistant county attorney, also was taken to the local hospital for treatment.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and drug and alcohol use is not suspected on the part of either driver, state police said.
