MANCHESTER — Kentucky and Tennessee transportation officials have announced that Interstate 75 southbound will be closed to all traffic at Exit 160 (Jellico, Tenn.) from 8 p.m. Sunday through 8 a.m. Monday. Traffic will be diverted onto U.S. 25W at Jellico and will rejoin I-75 at Exit 134 (Caryville, Tenn.)
The closing is necessary to allow the work zone between milepoints 141 and 144 to be reconfigured. Upon reopening Monday morning, the zone is expected to support one lane of southbound traffic and two lanes of northbound traffic.
Lanes have been closed intermittently near milepoint 141 since the collapse of portions of the road bed on March 8.
Officials said motorists should expect long delays and use extreme caution while traveling through the area.
