A Corbin man was charged Monday with shooting and killing his 15-year-old daughter's boyfriend, who allegedly had been abusive to the girl.
Police charged Bill Cox, 56, with murder in the death of Ryan M. Abner, 21, Corbin Police Chief David Campbell said.
Campbell said there had been a history of tension between the two men because of the alleged abuse, and that Abner reportedly had threatened to kill Cox.
Abner and Cox's daughter had a child together and lived in a home that Cox was paying for, Campbell said.
A neighbor said there had been domestic problems between Abner and Cox's daughter, Campbell said.
Just after 11 a.m. Monday, Cox went to the house and there was a confrontation, Campbell said.
Cox, who had borrowed a pistol, allegedly shot through the window of a vehicle Abner was in, hitting him twice in the head.
Cox, who owns an auto-repair shop, called police to say he had shot Abner, Campbell said.
