More than 800 Oxycodone pills and a large amount of cash were confiscated after a van was stopped on Interstate 75 in Laurel County, according to Kentucky State Police.
The driver, Burke W. Webb, 52, and his passenger, Calvin C. Caldwell Jr., 54, both of Mansfield, Ohio, were arrested on charges of trafficking in a controlled substance, police said. Both were taken to the Laurel County jail.
Troopers said they pulled over a 1999 Chevrolet Astro work van for traffic violations about 4 p.m. Monday. They became suspicious after talking with the driver and passenger.
The driver could not produce any identification, and the two occupants gave conflicting statements as to where they had been, police said.
Police said they used a search dog to check the van and found 869 Oxycodone tablets hidden in the dash of the vehicle. The passenger also was found to have a large amount of cash, troopers said.
