A short-lived but intense storm downed about 40 trees and damaged condominiums Tuesday afternoon at Woodson Bend Resort, which is on Lake Cumberland in Pulaski County.
The storm caused moderate damage to two condos and minor damage, such as dislodged gutters and shingles, to more than 20 others, said Mark Sloan, the general manager.
The storm broke so quickly that a work crew got caught on a roof and had to huddle under a tarp and hang on to plumbing vent pipes, Sloan said.
"It was just a scary, bad situation," he said, though it was over in less than a minute.
No one was hurt.
The National Weather Service said the storm was a microburst and was centered almost directly over the 455-acre property, Sloan said.
The resort, which includes 480 condos, an 18-hole golf course and a 136-slip boat dock, is scheduled to have an open house Saturday. The event will go on, Sloan said.
