A Magoffin County man shot by police when he confronted officers with a gun has died.
Carter Ray Castle died Monday after being flown to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Virginia, Kentucky State Police said in a news release.
The shooting happened Sunday, after officers with the Magoffin County Sheriff’s Office and state police went to Castle’s house in the Gunlock community to arrest him on a warrant, according to the news release.
Castle was outside his house and had a gun.

Police tried to negotiate with him to no avail. Two officers also used Tasers on him, but that did not bring him down, according to the news release.
When Castle got his gun and turned toward the officers, a trooper shot him.
No officers were hurt, and the shooting remains under investigation, the news release said.
