Officials canceled school Monday in Lincoln County after threatening graffiti was found over the weekend at Crab Orchard Elementary School, according to The Interior Journal newspaper.
The newspaper reported that superintendent Karen Hatter said the message read, "You getting shot down Monday; 10" and had a pair of scissors with the word "die."
The message was written on the outside of the school.
Hatter said the school district needed to err on the side of caution and cancel classes Monday while Kentucky State Police investigate. School is out Tuesday for Election Day.
The school asked that anyone with information that could help identify whoever wrote the message call state police at 1-800-555-2222 or (859) 623-2404.
