Laura Bush to be in Kentucky Tuesday

- amead@herald-leader.com

First Lady Laura Bush will finally make it to Abe Lincoln's hometown Tuesday.

But, unlike her planned February visit, which was cancelled because of bad weather, the public is not invited this time.

Bush will take part in a Junior Rangers activity and talk to children from Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, her office said. Junior Rangers is a program designed to get children interested in national parks.

The first lady had been scheduled be in Hodgenville on Feb. 12. The event at the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site was to mark the 16th president's 199th birthday and kick off a two-year celebration of the bicentennial of his birth.

Snow, rain and ice forced her to cancel that appearance.
