Williamsburg man dies in construction accident

- bortiz@herald-leader.com

A Williamsburg man died Friday afternoon when he was crushed in a construction accident.

L.B. Ellis and a good friend were excavating private property next to the Kentucky Splash water park, Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley said.

Ellis got out of his dump truck for an unknown reason, and his friend, operating an excavator, accidentally struck him with the machine's turret.

Ellis was crushed between the two machines.

Croley declined to identify the excavator operator, whom he called "a dear and personal friend" to Ellis.

No charges will be filed because the death was an accident, Croley said.
