An item in Sunday's New York Times noted that women hold 17 percent of the seats in the U.S. House, compared with 25 percent in the Iraqi Parliament. We Kentuckians trail as well, with 15.8 percent female representation in the state Senate, 19 percent in the House and 18.1 percent in the General Assembly overall. We've only been at this democracy thing since 1792. Give us time. We'll catch up ... with Baghdad someday.
