I was disappointed to read the article concerning the death of Kent Downey. He was very influential in Woodford County politics, and many, including myself, owe him a great debt of gratitude for his advice and counsel.
His grieving children had to read this tabloid-style journalism on the day of the celebration of life for their beloved father. That is most unfortunate. He was a good adviser, friend and lover of politics, but above all he was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Those are the things for which he should be remembered, despite the Herald-Leader’s commitment to rehashing indiscretions from decades past.
Shame on the reporter and headline writer.
Never miss a local story.
