The hanging baskets in downtown Lexington are especially beautiful this year. They add color and joy for strangers and natives alike, whether strolling or driving through downtown. Even if traffic is heavy, they provide moments of joy along the way. Recently our grandson from out of state commented on the beautiful display of color provided by the hanging baskets. They certainly add to the hospitality of our city.
Those of us who enjoy the baskets thank all of those who put them together and care for them. Also a big thank you to whoever thought up the idea. I believe it was former Vice Mayor Isabel Yates.
