Gov. Matt Bevin issued an executive order that would abolish Kentucky’s Medicaid expansion should the courts declare any of his changes to be illegal. With this act, he has not only displayed a stunning act of pettiness, but also astonishing contempt for the rule of law.
He has essentially told the courts that if they do not rule the way that he wants them to, he will take his anger out on the poorest and most vulnerable people in Kentucky.
This is not just petty, it is obscenely cruel and a shameful disregard of Kentucky’s values of compassion, kindness and helping those in need.
I urge my fellow Kentuckians to come together and make it clear not just to Bevin, but to our representatives, that we will not stand for this and that if Bevin does not rescind this executive order, then he, and any representative who turns a blind eye to his cruelty, will find themselves out of a job.
Contact them and show them what being a Kentuckian truly means: compassion and kindness. Not cruelty.
