Editorial wrong on ethics commission
The Herald-Leader editorial "Sex harassment suits still unsettling." misstates facts, albeit inadvertently, about the actions of the Legislative Ethics Commission.
In October, 2013 the Ethics Commission voted 7 to 0 to find probable cause to believe former Representative John Arnold had violated the Ethics Code, and set the matter for a hearing.
The editorial incorrectly states that the Commission "initially cleared him (Mr. Arnold) in a close vote...." In fact, the outcome of that hearing was a 4 to 1 vote finding him guilty.
Never miss a local story.
However, because the law requires five affirmative votes for the Commission to take action, the matter had to be heard again. The outcome of that re-hearing was a vote of 6 to 1 finding him guilty.
The editorial further states the Commission "found Arnold guilty of three ethics violations and fined him $1,000." In fact, the fine was $1,000 for each of the violations.
These may seem like trivial matters, but an often skeptical public needs to know the truth about how public agencies operate. This avoids giving the false impression that the Commission was waffling in its handling of this case due to outside pressure, when the opposite is true.

Warning: Satire ahead.
A recent article indicated that new regulations would allow cutting of vegetation to make digital billboards more visible from highways. The article quoted an "industry lobbyist" as saying: "We really do want to partner, not only with the cabinet, but with Scenic Kentucky and the Sierra Club to make sure we are doing this in a thoughtful manner." I was wondering if this included or was limited to using canola oil on their chain saws.

Cowardly and evil
I am truly outraged by the killing of an innocent dog by two cowardly drunken men who dragged the dog behind their vehicle to its death. People filled with with this kind of evil could easily, with no remorse, do the very same thing to a child or elderly person. In other words, anyone or anything that can't defend itself. Lock them up and throw the key away.
What's up, doc?
People need more information about our doctors. This information should be openly disclosed by the American Medical Association.
Things people would like to know include: Are they gay or heterosexual? What are their social and political agendas? Do they belong to secret organizations or fraternities or sororities?
Are they associated with local colleges and their programs? Who do they get their credit and personnel information from and do these companies have homosexual or heterosexual agendas?
Have they ever been treated with a psychiatric drug? Are they paying people back for the lifestyles the doctors have chosen to live or trying to impose how they feel? Do they have nationality preferences?
If a doctor were stalking children like a common sex predator, how far would your doctor go in protecting and facilitating that behavior? Health care can be an autonomy of political anarchy and not the kind of democracy any of us would want to live under.
These clerks who are refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples are going to lose and sooner than later. They may also lose their next elections.
But the other consequence of their hate-filled denial is what this is doing to their sanctimonious religious beliefs and their churches. More and more people are rejecting organized religion for reasons such as this. They cherry-pick which parts of the Bible they want to live by and ignore the ones they themselves violate. And when it comes to homosexuals they make up hate-filled interpretations that the Bible never said, just to make others feel bad.
If there is a God, I feel certain that he is pleased when two people love each other even if they are of the same sex. Love will always be better than the hate these clerks are spewing to people who just want to be together because they love each other and want to be recognized as equal members of their communities.
If a religion or religious person doesn't celebrate all forms of love then it will continue to lose credibility and decline. Love will always win.
