A Sandy Hook woman has been charged in connection with an Elliott County homicide, Kentucky State Police said early Wednesday.
Melinda Applegate, 27, was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Kentucky State Police Morehead post after an interview with detective Donnie McGraw, who was investigating the killing of Earl Ray Adkins, 48, of Sandy Hook. Applegate told McGraw about her "involvement in the incident involving Mr. Adkins," a police press release said.
She was charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery and tampering with physical evidence, authorities said.
She was taken to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.Bobby Gilliam, 31, of Sandy Hook, also was taken to Big Sandy by state police after he was extradited from Clinton County Ohio where he had been arrested Sunday. He was charged with capital murder in Adkins' death.
Adkins was found Sunday afternoon outside his home along Ky. 650, state police said, calling the death a gunshot-related homicide.
Police said additional charges are pending against Gilliam and Applegate.
