A Shelbyville man died Wednesday morning after the 1992 Ford tractor-trailer in which he was a passenger crashed on westbound Ky. 148 in Shelby County.
Kentucky State Police said in a release that James L. Jacob, 42, of Shelbyville was killed when the driver lost control while passing a U.S. Postal Service vehicle and overturned. The truck struck some small trees and a fence.
Jacob was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt, Trooper Ronald Turley said.
The driver, Lonnie B. Monroe, 38, also of Shelbyville, was taken to University of Louisville Hospital, where he was treated and released, Turley said.
