Hot on the success of their album The E.N.D., the Black Eyed Peas will play Rupp Arena on Feb. 17.
The tour is one of the biggest current pop acts to play the Lexington arena in a while. Tuesday's announcement adds another date to an increasingly busy 2010 concert calendar at Rupp that includes Tim McGraw and Lady Antebellum on Feb. 26, Brad Paisley on Jan. 21 and Taylor Swift on April 29.
Swift's concert has not been officially announced yet, though it is listed on several concert calendars, including Pollstar and LexGo.com. Ticket information is still unavailable for Swift and the Black Eyed Peas.
The Peas' national tour announcement said fan-club presale dates will be announced in the next few days and national on-sale dates will begin Dec. 12.
The future of the Black Eyed Peas was in some doubt with the solo success of frontwoman Fergie. But with The E.N.D., the group stormed back onto the charts this summer with the hits Boom Boom Pow, I Got a Feeling and the current single Meet Me Halfway. Boom Boom Pow and I Got a Feeling were back-to-back No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, keeping the group atop the chart for a record 26 weeks. Hits from previous BEP albums include Let's Get It Started and My Humps.
