Tanya Lukyanenko's 10 kills and two blocks were not enough as Louisville's volleyball team fell 3-1 to host Purdue in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday.
"I thought the momentum had changed after we won the second set," U of L Coach Anne Kordes said. "We were up and in control that whole set but then came out after the break and got down early on our own mistakes."
U of L (24-9) hit just .083 for the match, with the Boilermakers holding Big East Player of the Year Lola Arslanbekova to 10 kills and -.047.
The Cardinals' loss leaves Kentucky as the only state school still in the tournament. The Cats host No. 1 seed Texas in the Sweet 16 on Friday at 5 p.m. Four-time defending national champion Penn State will play last night's UCLA-San Diego winner in the second game at Memorial Coliseum.
