Luke Kennard picked up a scholarship offer from Louisville on Monday night, his father told the Herald-Leader.
Kennard, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Franklin, Ohio, received offers Sunday from UK, Duke and Michigan State. His previous offers included Indiana, Michigan and Ohio State.
Scout.com ranks Kennard as the No. 18 overall player in the class of 2015. He played well with the King James Shooting Stars' 16-and-under team at last week's Peach Jam. Coaches John Calipari, Rick Pitino, Mike Krzyzewski and Tom Izzo were among those who saw him play over the weekend.
Mark Kennard, the players' father, told the Herald-Leader on Monday that the family will "definitely" visit Lexington in August or September. He said a return trip for Big Blue Madness is also a possibility.
Lindsey commits to Friars
Four-star small forward Jalen Lindsey committed to Providence on Monday night.
Lindsey, who had a scholarship offer from Louisville and also drew interest from Kentucky, will play his senior season at Huntington Prep in West Virginia. Huntington Prep Coach Rob Fulford confirmed the commitment to the Herald-Leader.
Scout.com ranks Lindsey as the No. 65 overall prospect in the class of 2014. He's rated in the top 50 by Rivals and ESPN.
The 6-foot-6 forward from Nashville told the Herald-Leader last month that Louisville, Florida, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, LSU and Mississippi State were the other schools recruiting him the hardest at the time. All of those schools had offered scholarships.
Lindsey had just completed an official visit to Providence, and he said the Friars had made him a priority.
Delgado to transfer
Top 100 prospect Angel Delgado will transfer to Huntington Prep for his senior season, Coach Rob Fulford told the Herald-Leader on Monday.
Delgado — a 6-foot-8 power forward — came to the United States from the Dominican Republic a year ago and played last season for a high school in Troy, N.Y.
John Calipari and UK assistants Orlando Antigua and Kenny Payne watched Delgado play multiple times at last week's Nike Peach Jam. Calipari and Antigua are also familiar with Delgado through their affiliation with the Dominican national team. Antigua was named the team's head coach in June after serving for two years as an assistant under Calipari.
Dana Dingle coaches Delgado's AAU team and also played for Calipari at UMass in the 1990s. Dingle is handling Delgado's recruitment. He told the Herald-Leader on Monday that Delgado does not yet have a UK scholarship offer.
