Kentucky freshmen Andrew Harrison, Julius Randle and James Young were among 50 players named Thursday to the watch list for the Naismith Trophy.
The award is presented annually by the Atlanta Tipoff Club to honor college basketball's national player of the year.
The trio has started all five games for the Wildcats this season.
Harrison has averaged 11.0 points while dishing out a team-high 18 assists.
Randle is the fourth Wildcat in program history to open the season with five straight double-doubles, and the first freshman.
Young ranks second on the team in scoring at 14.2 points per game.
Anthony Davis is the only UK player to win the award, having done so in 2012.
Two Louisville players, senior guard Russ Smith and sophomore forward Montrezl Harrell, also made the list.
The three Wildcats were among seven Southeastern Conference players to make the watch list, joining Marshall Henderson of Mississippi, Jordan McRae and Jarnell Stokes of Tennessee, and Johnny O'Bryant III of LSU.
