Five-star combo guard Markelle Fultz announced his commitment to the University of Washington on Friday night.
Fultz — a 6-foot-4 prospect from DeMatha High School in Maryland — earned a UK scholarship offer last month, but the Wildcats were not among the final three programs on his list. He chose Washington over Arizona and Louisville after taking official visits to those three schools earlier this month.
247Sports ranks Fultz as the No. 7 overall prospect in the class of 2016, and DraftExpress.com projects him as the No. 5 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.
The Wildcats remain in the mix for several other talented guards in the class of 2016, including Malik Monk, De'Aaron Fox, Rawle Alkins, Kobi Simmons and Dennis Smith Jr.
UK already has commitments from power forwards Sacha Killeya-Jones and Tai Wynyard for next year, though Wynyard is expected to enroll in college early and join the Cats for the final half of the upcoming 2015-16 season.
