OXFORD, Ohio — Jeff Glover threw one pass, but it was enough to give Eastern Kentucky a 17-10 win over Miami (Ohio) on Saturday.
Glover, a wide receiver, took the ball on a reverse with 4:43 left in the game and hit Deno Montgomery with a 43-yard scoring strike to give Eastern Kentucky (2-0), an FCS school, the victory over FBS Miami (0-2). The RedHawks have now lost 18 consecutive games. Their last victory was on Oct. 27, 2012.
The last time the Colonels defeated an FBS team was in 1985, when they upset Louisville 45-21.
With Saturday's game tied at 10 and both offenses sputtering in the fourth quarter, EKU turned to trickery. Glover took the second handoff on the reverse and hit a wide-open Montgomery
The RedHawks held a 10-3 lead in the third and were driving for another score when Stanley Absanon picked off Andrew Hendrix's pass, returning it 55 yards to tie the score.
Absanon added another interception with 1:19 left in the game.
The RedHawks had 359 passing yards compared to 198 for the Colonels, but Hendrix also threw three interceptions.
Jared McClain and Bennie Coney combined to throw for 155 yards for EKU.
