Eastern Kentucky University senior running back Dy'Shawn Mobley was named Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year on Friday in a vote of media who cover the league.
The poll also predicted EKU will finish in second place in the OVC this season.
Mobley, who transferred to the Colonels from the University of Kentucky after the 2013 season, was the conference's offensive player of the year last season and a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, which goes to the top offensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision.
Mobley helped the Colonels to a 9-4 record by rushing for 1,491 yards and scoring 20 touchdowns. The Powell, Tenn., native ranked sixth in the nation in touchdowns, 12th in yards and 14th in yards per game (114.7).

The league's media picked Jacksonville State to win the OVC this season. Following JSU and Eastern Kentucky was Eastern Illinois, which is led by former UK quarterback Jalen Whitlow
EKU opens the 2015 season with a Thursday night game at home, Sept. 3, against Valparaiso.
The OVC will release its coaches preseason poll and all-league teams during its media day in Nashville on Monday.
