If t-shirt sales are any indicator, Walmart is doing okay in Kentucky.
Darren Rovell, a sports business reporter for ESPN, shared on Twitter a Walmart chart reflecting team apparel and merchandise sales data from July 17 to Sept. 11. According to the chart, University of Kentucky items were eighth nationally among all NCAA teams. UK was ahead of Iowa and Oklahoma in the top 10 and behind Alabama, Ohio State, Tennessee, Arkansas, Georgia, Nebraska and West Virginia.
It wasn’t just UK gear that flew off the shelves, though; Kentucky high schools moved a lot of merchandise, too. As a state, Kentucky ranked 10th overall in apparel and merchandise related to high school sports. Kentucky was behind Texas, Tennessee, Arkansas, Florida, Missouri, Oklahoma, Illinois, Ohio and Georgia.
