University of Kentucky men's basketball coach John Calipari received some national recognition for his social media acumen Wednesday, when SportsIllustrated.com posted its annual "Twitter 100."
The Sports Illustrated listing is defined as the 100 Twitter accounts "essential to your daily routine for finding news, information and entertainment from the sports world."
For the third consecutive year, Sports Illustrated polled employees from its magazine and website to come up with the recommended group.
Each member of the Twitter 100 appears with a photo or logo and a brief description.

For Calipari, SportsIllustrated.com wrote this:
"It should come as little surprise that it’s the Wildcats’ fearless leader who reigns supreme among hoops coaches in the Twitter arena. With more than a million followers, Calipari has used the platform to rally Wildcats faithful (often via hashtag #BBN), give updates on his program and show off his famous friends (among them Drake and rapper-turned-sports-agent Jay-Z)."
Calipari was the only college basketball coach to make the Twitter 100 and one of only four coaches overall, joining Pittsburgh Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin, Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly and former Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the Twitter account @UKCoachCalipari had 1,244,691 followers.
