The new SEC Network will bring unprecedented exposure to the University of Kentucky men's and women's soccer programs this fall.
UK announced Tuesday that all 10 of its women's home matches and every one of its Southeastern Conferences matches -- home and away -- will be broadcast live on SEC Network Plus, WatchESPN and the WatchESPN app, the online platforms for the network.
UK plays in Conference USA in men's soccer, but the SEC has received permission to broadcast all of the Wildcats’ 10 home contests on the digital platform.
“The exposure that our team and conference will have this season is second to none,” UK head coach Jon Lipsitz said. “To be able to broadcast to 90 million people each night provides us a great platform for us to expose our sparkling new facility as well as the great on-field product of SEC soccer. Our thanks goes out to the SEC and ESPN for all of their efforts and we can’t wait to use this as another stepping stone in the building of our program and our Big Blue Nation fan base.”
Never miss a local story.
In addition to the online broadcasts, three UK women's games will be on live television on the SEC Network: at Missouri on Oct. 2, at Texas A&M on Oct. 5 and at home vs. Florida on Oct. 19.
The SEC Network also will broadcast all nine matches in the women's SEC Tournament on television or online.
The UK women kick off their 2014 season in Seattle against the Washington Huskies on Aug. 22.
The Wildcats' first home match is Aug. 29 vs. Francis Marion at 7:30 p.m. on SEC Network Plus.
The UK men's home opener is Aug. 31 vs. Belmont.
