Kentucky’s top doubles team, Aldila Sutjiadi and Mami Adachi, earned the No. 2 overall seed for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships. Sutjiadi also received an at-large bid in the singles field. The tournaments will be held May 25-30 at the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
With their top-eight seeding, Adachi and Sutjiadi have locked up ITA All-American honors and will be the first Kentucky players to do so since since Kim Coventry and Joelle Schwenk in 2007.
Adachi and Sutjiadi have posted a 15-2 record this season — after an 0-2 start —and were undefeated in Southeastern Conference play at 11-0. They were the runner-up in both the Oracle/ITA Masters and the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships during the fall.
In singles, Sutjiadi was the first UK player since Schwenk in 2006 to be named to the All-SEC first team. The junior, ranked No. 29 in the nation, is 16-5 overall and 8-4 in the SEC.
Still on tap for Kentucky is the first round of the NCAA Championship team tournament. UK, a No. 2 seed, faces No. 3 seed Xavier at 10 a.m. Friday in Ann Arbor, Mich.
