Kentucky (40-21) finished second in the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division during the regular season and was the No. 3 seed in the league tournament. The Wildcats are hosting an NCAA Tournament regional for the first time since 2006.
Kentucky wound up in Sunday afternoon’s elimination game by winning its NCAA opener on Friday, 6-4 over Ohio University, then losing Saturday night, 5-4, to North Carolina State.
The loser of Sunday afternoon’s Indiana-Kentucky game is eliminated from the double-elimination tournament. The winner advances to play North Carolina State on Sunday night at 7.
Indiana (34-23-2) entered as the No. 2 seed in the Lexington Regional. The Hoosiers opened by losing 7-6 to North Carolina State on Friday night, then bounced back Saturday afternoon to eliminate Ohio University 11-2.
