The state Court of Appeals has agreed to hear an appeal from University of Kentucky baseball player James Paxton.
The player has asked the court to issue a temporary injunction prohibiting UK officials from requiring him to submit to an interview with an NCAA representative as a precondition to his playing on the team.
Paxton doesn't want to miss pitching for the Wildcats, and baseball season starts Feb. 19.
The court, in an order issued Thursday, agreed that its next available three-judge motions panel available after Feb. 8 would consider Paxton's request. UK has until Feb. 8 to file a response to the request.

Paxton sued the university, alleging that officials tried to force him to submit to NCAA questioning or face expulsion from the team.
